Common Square - Street Festival on Car Free Day

The role of the public squares of Szeged has changed a lot over time. At the turn of the 19 and 20th century, the primary function of urban spaces was community life: the locations of fairs, social events and encounters that reflected a slower, community-oriented lifestyle. From the middle of the century onwards, urbanisation and the expansion of motor vehicle traffic have transformed urban transport and the use of public spaces, limiting the mobility of pedestrians, cyclists and community functions.
We will join the city car-free day again this year, and we would like to create a social experience again in the heart of downtown. In the U-shaped dead end of Feketesas Street, various civic initiatives and institutions will be the main players this time, and we will be preparing programs to show how diverse the local community life is.

Date-bound programmes:
Between 14:00-14:45 City history walk with Tóth Marcel on Feketesas street. Between 15:00 and 16:00 community sandwiches for Szeged love chests: Bring ingredients (floor, bun, vegetables, cut, butter), make sandwiches and place them together in Szeged's Love chests.

Motivation Book and Clothes Fair used in Community Space (stock sweeping), board games are waiting for you during the festival.
